As it turns out I didn’t call it quits and I will be writing once again, or so I say so now. Being away from my misscatterbain side and trying to be much organized and in control, kind of burdens me, as it turns out. So, for the last months I have gotten in a good place professionally wise, doing a job I love and I can’t wait to go to each day (and I appreciate how rare that is) and doing renovations on the side to feed my architectural need too.

Somehow all this that is going on socially wise, as well as personal issues (supposed friends acting like idiots) got to me and today I thought of turning once again at my internet god who figures it all out for me. So I hope I make time to psychoanalyze myself through blogging or just pamper myself with lovely photos.

It was an eye opening weekend and as it usually goes, when you manage to go further and further away to look at the big picture, it all makes sense. So as an answer to my puzzled mind, I met my godparents after 20 years of not seeing them. They live outside of Aigio and we had a lovely time together.

I just bought my first car yesterday, it is a used one, it was previously owned by a friend of mine, it is black and I can’t drive it. The whole point of buying it is to touch up with my driving skills as soon as possible. Yesterday night everything went horribly wrong with me ending up being driven home by my dad at 1 in the morning (that kind of sums up the mess that led up to it being my only solution).

On the way home we were listening to the radio, to a quite interestingly profound, yet unwillingly funny radio show, with the listeners calling to talk or sometimes sing live at the radio producer. One granma passed the phone at her granddaughter who talked about her summer and described it as “100 swims at the sea and 40 ice creams”.

That manages to actually make me smile after a series of bad luck. I remembered myself counting ice creams and times at the beach.Unfortunately, it all led up to me counting 7 swims and less than 10 ice creams during the last couple of months.

These last days I spent at my village in Mani, Kastania, as we celebrated the baptism of my twin nephews. It was a lot of work and kind of hilarious to watch the priest, the parents and the godfathers try to juggle everything inside that small church, taking turns in everything, asking who is who all the time. At the same time it was all about the ultimate cuteness, times two. We decorated the traditional tavern of my uncle, set the tables and everyone ate together when the whole thing was over and the babies were all cried out.

A couple of years ago walking outside a closed gallery in Barcelona me and my friends had been amazed by some amazing, colorful, paintings of faces close ups. They had such a strong impact on us that some time ago when I came across the French painter Francoise Nielly, I immediately remembered that day when I had first saw her work, even though back then I didn’t know her name. As it turns out she is quite well known, she lives and works in Paris, but was raised in Southern France where the imagery and nature is probably what inspired her incline for the fluorescent colors of his portraits.

It has a ground floor with all the main living spaces and of course the perfect yard and a first floor with 5 bedrooms where we all sleeped. My birthday weekend was as perfect as it gets! We had booked an amazing house in Nafplio which was in the center of the old town and had a huge yard where I blew my candles. Now that I am 30 all the craziness of what I should have done is gone.

Even more so, as this birthday was the most fun and crazy than I have had in the last few years. So we still got it and we are never loosing it!

The big 3-0 is coming up! The clock is ticking and there are 2 days left. So we are packing up with my best friends to go to the gorgeous Nafplio for a 3 day weekend so as to take the news that we grew up as light as we can. Most of the things on the "before I turn 30" list have been ticked with the living on my own and driving my own car left hanging and taking an extension of another year.

Yesterday, being in the moaning mode and looking around in the internet I found out about british surf photographer Mickey Smith who is travelling the world looking for waves, taking photos and living the life, as it seems. There is a video titled "The Dark Side of The Lens" that is featuring him and I found it so very inspiring so there it is.

I am not feeling up to anything these days as the current situation of the country as well as my own doesn’t seem to be getting better. There are signs of hope but one by one they seem to get shuttered down. That’s why I was kind of absent from posting.

I will insist on my miss scatterbrain title and get as scatterbrain as I want. I say it but I don’t do it. Now I am doing it.

I am turning 30 in 4 days and my unfulfilled working status is sounding more and more depressing. So I will be sending a message at the internet god with all my dream jobs, meaning I would feel more than fulfilled to be living out of one or more of these professions.

It is sad to be back from these last four days of sentiment and joy at my friend’s wedding in Santorini. Put the most romantic island of the world together with the first time that such a close friend of mine gets married and you can guess the result. The couple had made sure to make us all cry and laugh as they had planned the wedding day to be full of surprises for each other and for the guests. I described it to be more of a show, than a wedding as there was so much singing and dancing evolved.

Well I am glad to inform you that it was chosen to participate at the Video Art festival Miden at Kalamata. The festival will hold projections at Amfia square in Kalamata and it will take place from the 7^th to the 9^th of july. Our video, named “Trail” will be shown on the 7^th and unfortunately I don’t think I will make it there. Still I am very happy for the outcome and it was about time I post the whole video for you to see.

I survived my first bachelorette ever, with just the proper amount of Hangover (without any tattoos or missing anyone). We had a blast yesterday at the beach, mainly because of the bride being in crazy spirit and us running around taking all kinds of wild photos as she wanted us to. A day earlier I had told her that she was allowed to do anything she wanted and she did..., and we followed.

I have very few photos to post, because the theme of the day was to take Polaroid photos (that I absolutely loved) and the digital ones are of course censored to public appearance.

So close to the actual summer vacations we had a sneak preview this weekend. I went at a friends house in Pylos near Kalamata and we had 3 days of beach, view-watching and relaxing. We went once again to explore Polylimnio, which I have mentioned before here, a place with 9 lakes and many waterfalls and we ate great, homemade food at a stone tavern at Mesohori.

The beach was perfect as it had the revitalizing breeze, the sun and the proper amount of people. Today I didn’t feel like writing about anything else, but this. Indignant in Sintagma is a pure civilian movement in Greece that was long overdue, but a phrase from similar demonstrations in Madrid was all that was needed to fire things up. The Spanish made up a slogan, roughly translated as, “ssshh...be quiet, the Greeks are asleep!” So yesterday thousands of Greeks gathered in the central square, in front of the parliament house and had of course their special response (in spanish!), “we woke up! what time is it? It is already time for them to leave!”

It is an actual shop in New York’s Greenwitch village as well as an online shop that you can find here. I am back from my trip all around china after 15 tiring but very exciting days, 7 flights, 3 train trips and uncountable kilometers of walking.

At one of the airports, some days ago, we begun talking with a group of Germans about our experiences of china and we all agreed the first thing that comes to mind to characterize it is “different”. Everything was different and surreal, especially to me as it was my first trip outside Europe. Words can’t really describe it accurately and as I realized while I was there, photos (my photos at least) can’t capture the atmosphere, mainly because of the scale of everything and certainly because of the sound and smell being such strong elements.

I did a quick selection out of hundreds of pictures to post two of each of the cities we visited.

Free people doesn’t fall in the look-how-affordable-yet-cool-clothes-I-found category, but it falls in the adore category. You probably already know the brand, but here is a bit of their story found in Wikipedia.

In the early 1970s, Dick Hayne opened a store in Philadelphia, Pensylvania, and he named it Free People. When his store’s popularity grew, he opened a second store, but changed the name from Free People to Urban Outfitters (yes, I love it too). My friends are making fun of the fact that I am carrying a camera wherever I go, if it is the weekend, but that hasn’t kept me from doing it, still!

We were at a bar celebrating a friend’s birthday and I was taking photos of the decoration as it had a great industrial feel to it and a clever type of measure tape on the wall inspired by its name, 33 square meters. And it is in fact that big, or that small to be exact.

Today I am trying hard to get my mind of the apparent misery in the future (and present) of this country. Things haven’t been looking good for a while but by now even the most optimistic ones are losing hope.

On a different note, I have been following the inhabitat.com weblog here for some time now and it is filled with interesting ideas regarding eco-friendly architecture, design, art, fashion. It is devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future.

I haven’t posted over set designing in some time now, so it was about time to look into one of the most elegant, classic yet modern, set designing of a series, in my humble opinion. Charlotte York’s apartment.

On the "Sex and the City" adored series, her apartment was located on New York’s Park Avenue and that’s where it really was in real life, too. Of course, that’s just the exterior, as the interior is unfortunately only a set. The IKEA DIY (Do It Yourself) blogs that I found out here, and spring as I mentioned already, got me in the mood for some DIY solutions for my petite room. I thought to decorate a hanger, so that it looks good on my wall holding all my scarves that are suitable for this season and didn't get packed.

So, I naturally choose yellow, green and orange as is most of my room decoration and found ribbons that weren’t useful anywhere else (title of shops on one side), some beeds, got my white glue and my super glue out and started glueing.

Dorothy Perkins is one of the biggest fashion retailers in the UK, with nearly 600 stores and over 50 international outlets. It has existed for almost 100 years as it began life as Ladies Hosiery and Underwear Limited in 1909.

This weekend was overshadowed by our Saturday night fever celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday. She is the first one to turn 30 and the domino started from now on. Of course we celebrated it accordingly having a kind of classmates’ reunion and dancing our heads off.

The spring brings me into DIY(do it yourself) mood and I am looking forward to visiting the all time favorite IKEA store that provides the perfect, economical, first materials for some great original results.

So I searched the web and came up with a list of sites that provide very useful ideas to personalize the IKEA products.

livethemma : a new site written in swedish which is quite a turn off, but still has such great consepts that makes it worth to at least look at the pics.

theikeablog: a blog to share your Ikea experience, including hacks, reviews, discontinued products you will miss and so on.

ikeahackers: a site to help you hack, personalise, repurpose IKEA products into the very thing each person wants.

ikeafans: a community of IKEA fans giving out information about the stores and company and all kind of information you might need but also post some useful ways to personalize the IKEA products.

I went all over this weekend, starting from the village of a friend near Grevena, at the northwest of Greece, called Kipourio, moving on to the ski center of Vasilitsa, walking around at the Portitsa bridge and looking over at Edessa’s waterfalls and Kastoria's lake. All in all, we were enjoying ourselves while admiring nature’s beauties.

I am thrilled with this artist, with this concept, with everything about it. The artist is South Korean, named Yeondoo Jung with studies both in London and Seoul and quite well known as it turns out, named Artist of the Year, from the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Seoul in 2007. Some years ago he did an amazing series of illustrations named Wonderland that recreates scenes found in children’s drawings. Some are funny, some are fantastical, but almost all of them are beautifully surreal.

I just came across some brilliant design filled with humor, so I looked it up and it appears as if the designer and illustrator Meirav Peled Barzilay has more where it came from. She is a 30year old, Tel Aviv based, product designer. She graduated the Holon Institute of Technology and founded her design studio in 2009. She is now launching products for worldwide distribution.

What I first discovered was her very cool paper lamp that you can squash into a ball and reshape-I am loving it!

Since it appears as though we are in the mid of winter here in Athens and with a 3day weekend coming up I wanted to bring some of the summer vibe to cheer us up. So I turned to the young very talented photographer from Taiwan, Valerie Chiang. Born in 1992, she currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina. She first became interested in photography when she joined the popular photo-sharing website Flickr. While it started as a hobby it developed into a passion for fine art and fashion photography.

That was a really inspiring, calming weekend for me as I went away and toured a bit around Arcadia. It was very cold and refreshing and I enjoyed all the walking and driving so much, and the eating too! I went to a bunch of historical villages. My quest for fashionable, affordable brands led me this time to Lazy Oaf. I am so glad to found it that I am filling my shopping cart and writing this post at the same time.

This East London based creative label was started by Gemma Shiel back in 2001 with hand screen printed tee's and a market stall in East London and then went on to open the lazy oaf store in Soho in 2004. Through the last decade the brand has had such success that they are now in 150 stockists worldwide.

I had the brilliant idea to check out the sets of Beverly Hills, 90210, the series that made my generation who we are today(or not!). It was very hard to watch it again, because now it seems to me as uninteresting as it gets. Nevertheless, I went through a lot of episodes to find some few shots of the Walsh house. I know the pictures are of bad quality, but that is the quality in which i found the episodes and there was very little I can do about it.

How do I start to write about Banksy? First of all, when I was only thinking about starting a blog, I knew that if I ever had one, I wanted to feature Banksy and his work. I looked more intensely into his work when I included in my thesis, a shop window he did for a pet shop in New York in 2008, that was brilliant, and as ironic as it gets. That’s the video I edited from material from that window. Banksy commented on that window that “If it is art and it is seen from the street I guess it can still be called street art.”

Well Banksy, is the pseudonym of a British graffiti artist, whose real life identity is not publicly known. According to author and graphic designer Tristan Manco, Banksy "was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England. The son of a photocopier technician, he trained as a butcher but became involved in graffiti during the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s." Banksy made a name for himself painting stenciled satirical and political images in public spaces, but always succeeding in keeping his identity hidden. Banksy is now one of the most well known street artists, and is known for his unique critical eye on the british culture, politics and the modern lifestyle.

Steven Alan, has been a leader in the fashion industry on many different levels. He started out as a retailer with a store in downtown Manhattan. With time he decided to create his own men’s line. He got to be known for designing a man’s classic shirt, but with a twist. He went on elaborating on his unique, special sense of style and has now expanded to womenswear, shoes and accessories.
