lucy in the sky. with diamonds.

I am quite attached to the theme of skies, yes the sky. Blue sky, cloudy sky, pink sky. I love looking at it and I love taking photos of it. I love the songs about it. So today thinking about what to post, skies came to mind. Seemed like a good idea to start the week looking at photos of the sky.

the world as a playground by Florentijn Hofman

I have been away too long, so there are ideas waiting to get posted. First is an artist I stumbled upon while doing a web-research and I smiled instantly looking at his work. Florentijn Hofman is a dutch artist that can’t help but stand out through the scale of his work. He likes to create unique, huge installations out in the public space, as he sees it as a big playground.

inhabitat's green design will save the world (except greece)

Today I am trying hard to get my mind of the apparent misery in the future (and present) of this country. Things haven’t been looking good for a while but by now even the most optimistic ones are losing hope.
On a different note, I have been following the inhabitat.com weblog here for some time now and it is filled with interesting ideas regarding eco-friendly architecture, design, art, fashion. It is devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future.
They also run a shop with innovative green design with all kinds of impressive items. These are some of my favorites.

DIY inspiration

Yesterday we finally had the long awaited date with IKEA. It wasn’t everything I expected as my (love at first sight) PS VAGO chair we were waiting to find not only was out of stock but will be back next year (sigh).

earth moving anthropologie windows

Anthropologie, one of my favorite brands that I have talked about here, has just posted on its facebook page, its Earth Day windows and they are looking so beautiful that I couldn’t wait to post about them.
Its windows have been my favorites for a while and never cease to amaze me as they are bursting with creativity, inspiration and gorgeous hand work.

fantasy came true

I am thrilled with this artist, with this concept, with everything about it. The artist is South Korean, named Yeondoo Jung with studies both in London and Seoul and quite well known as it turns out, named Artist of the Year, from the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Seoul in 2007. Some years ago he did an amazing series of illustrations named Wonderland that recreates scenes found in children’s drawings. Some are funny, some are fantastical, but almost all of them are beautifully surreal.

chair design madness

I have quite a lot of my hard disc space taken by images of chairs I like, so I thought I could post some of my favorites. First of all, this is a legendary image bellow from the Playboy magazine, July 1961. All these men are design masters photographed with their signature chairs and in order from left to right, they are the following, George Nelson, Edward Wormley, Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames and Jens Risom.
